Making Memories & Collecting Coins as Vacation Souvenirs
One of our favorite traditions is “family vacation”. Once a year, my parents, siblings and our families enjoy a week together on a vacation – and each one is a new adventure! This year, we traveled to Port Angeles, WA where we spent a week exploring Olympic National Park. (Side note: if you’ve never been, I’d highly recommend. WOW – what a gorgeous area of the country!)
When inspiration strikes
This year, to kick off our trip, I brought along Olympic National Park quarter Showpaks® for everyone! When I learned where we’d be going, I couldn’t resist. These made fantastic vacation souvenirs – my 10-year-old niece said it was going to be a great way to show her friends where she went on school break!
The only question in my mind was whether the Showpak, or the colorized $2 Federal Reserve Note celebrating the Hoh Rainforest, would be the better choice as a vacation souvenir. We spent a day hiking in the rain forest, and it was truly mind blowing. Granted, we were coming out of winter in the northeast, but not one of us could get over how green everything was! The note (which was colorized by our artists) really captures the essence of the rainforest’s wild growth. Plus, we even spotted some calypso orchids (which are featured on the colorized note) growing in the forest.
Littleton’s Showcase loves to travel
Of course, the trip also made a great opportunity for a Where Has Your Showcase Been! Our trip wrapped up with a day touring Seattle, where Littleton’s Showcase visited the Space Needle. We also had the good fortune to see Chihuly Gardens and Glass, Pike Place Market, Valley of the Gnomes and Viretta Park.
