Frugal & Fun: Collecting on a Budget

Finding old coins is often the spark that ignites a lifelong interest in coin collecting. Whether it’s the dropped penny that glints from a parking lot or coins we snatch from the couch or car floor before the vacuum sucks them into oblivion – let’s face it, it is satisfying to rescue lost money.

Equally satisfying is to see where those coins take us without breaking the bank. If you’re curious about collecting on a budget, let’s take a look at some of the different ways Littleton Coin helps keep this hobby affordable.

Shop Our Sales – 2 Ways!

Like our northern New England neighbor one state over, The Vermont Country Store, we were launched 80 years ago as a catalog company after the end of WWII. Despite rising print costs, Littleton Coin still mails out eight different glossy catalogs, plus two specifically designed for seasonal gift shopping.

Customers who receive our catalogs receive a variety of separate sales offerings in the mail. A catalog subscription is free. To sign up, please click this link.

“The catalogs are gorgeous! When purchasing items, it’s nice to see a clear, and almost always, color photo…,” M.S., of Reisterstown, MD, told us. Added J.W., of Reading, PA, “I think the catalog is great! It is very informative and the prices are reasonable as well.”

Meanwhile, if you regularly surf the web, browse our online store where we have a ‘department’ devoted to clearance items. There’s something for every level of coin collecting and some paper money, too!

Take the Plunge!

Let out your breath: It is possible to build a traditional collection around a coin design or precious metal preference that has caught your attention…and still meet your regular monthly obligations. Littleton Coin has tailor-made its unique Coins-on-Approval program to fit the budgets of aspiring collectors.

This blog drills down how the approval service works. Get to the subhead Budget Friendly and learn all the different ways our home delivery helps you put together a satisfying collection you can take pride in.

“What I like most about doing business with Littleton [is] your…’On-Approval’ program…I am always pleased with merchandise purchased from Littleton Coin Company and I appreciate your friendly service…” wrote in A.S., of Fresno, CA.

Shop Our Rewards Store!

Only online and only for Littleton Coin customers who’ve earned 10 points for every $1 they’ve spent on merchandise from us, our loyalty program attracts rave reviews!

I have only begun to collect so…I truly appreciate the Rewards Program…It gives me even more hope that I will be able to increase my collection,” said F.B. of Sugar City, IN, who also shared with us that she collects with “a small budget.”

J.W. of Murfreesboro, TN was also appreciative, detailing three reasons: “…receiving 10 Points for every dollar spent…merchandise that can be ordered with Rewards Points [is] reasonably priced with Rewards redemption…[and] the merchandise that you sell is such great quality.

Shop our retail store in New Hampshire!

As I write this, we’re headed into New England’s showy fall foliage season. And then it will be onto winter sports and the eagerly anticipated holiday buying season! If you’re a Littleton Coin customer with Rewards Points to spend and are touring the region, know you can redeem those points at our Showroom here in the Littleton Industrial Park.

On a Front Desk survey, one of our visitors summed up the experience of many. S.C. of Titusville, FL wrote, “This place is great. Didn’t realize all the available products. Wow! This visit has been well worth stopping in…Thank you.”
