Let the Coin Hunt of 2026 Begin…
Special Privy Mark Quarters are Sparking Collector Fever!
This year just keeps delivering prime excitement for collectors! Last week, the U.S. Mint announced that they would be releasing special Declaration of Independence quarters into circulation.

Now – we already know that the Declaration of Independence quarters are special. They’re the third design of the year, struck to honor our nation’s 250th anniversary.
But these? They’re going to display a special “July 4” privy mark on the obverse, to the left of Jefferson’s bust. This privy mark is going to replace the traditional “P” or “D” mint mark just for those coins.
And the best part is, they’ve released them directly to the public, turning this July 4th quarters event into something akin to the Great American Coin Hunt of 2019!
The joy of discovery

There’s something uniquely thrilling about finding a special new coin in the wild. It offers an element of surprise that just makes the hobby even more compelling.
For collectors, the hunt isn’t just about acquiring a new coin – it’s about the story behind how it was found. Every coin has a journey, and being a steward of that journey holds a deeper meaning for each collector.
With the Declaration of Independence “July 4th quarters”, there’s the added connection to history. This third quarter design of 2026 depicts Thomas Jefferson – third U.S. president and principal author of the Declaration – on the obverse. The reverse shows the iconic Liberty Bell mid-ring.
More than metal – it’s a tie that binds
Events like this have a way of creating the conversations that tie the collecting community together. It stands as a reminder of a shared moment in history! We now live in a world where digital transactions are the rule, and not the exception – so holding physical coins and sharing them with others is truly special.
The release of (and the hunt for!) the Declaration of Independence July 4th quarters offers a perfect way to celebrate the excitement around the 250th anniversary of the U.S. I think it’s also going to be a great reminder for many as to why they fell in love with the numismatic hobby in the first place!
