Big Hearts and helping hands for their communities:

When you live and work “north of the notch” in the area located north of Franconia State Park and just shy of the Canadian border, the population is dramatically small compared to other parts of the nation. As a result, we tend to build our extended ‘families’ not just with those related by blood, but also with those friends and neighbors who live in the same nearby towns and communities as we do. This is especially true here at Littleton Coin, where our tight knit group shares not only the work day but also a deep commitment to our surrounding communities.

From week to week, you’ll see members of our 300+ team taking part in one local organization or another, baking pies for a bake sale, knitting blankets for the elderly or helping a neighbor build a new home. We walk in relays, host events and take collections for those in need. There is a spirit of service here that is a way of life for the team. We enjoy supporting the causes that affect our neighbors – after all, they’re our family.

This year, through the volunteer efforts of our employees, we’ve been able to truly make a difference in the lives of our community. In the fall we held a company-wide “Think Pink” bake sale and pink hair day to support local breast cancer awareness and adopted local families for gift giving during the holidays. We spruced up the roadsides and planted flowers during spring cleanup day. Throughout the year, we held drives to support area homeless and animal shelters. Recently, we hosted an on-site bloodmobile and collected over 45 pints of blood for those in need! Little by little, person by person we made a difference.

And it’s nice to know our community efforts are supported by the company. It’s precisely because of them that they implemented the Community Service benefit which pays employees for their volunteer service. Now, whether we choose a charitable organization of our own or volunteer in one of the LCC Community Service initiatives, we’ll get paid up to 8 hours for simply giving our time.

This sense of community pride and support is not new. It goes back to 1945, when Maynard and Fannie Sundman Blood-Drive_ARC-Busbegan the company. They wanted to find a place that was not just a terrific place to build a company, but also a great place to raise a family. They searched for and found Littleton, a location with a spirit of mutual caring for both business and community. Maynard’s thoughts were that if you offer a great place to work, supported the community and its residents, they in return, will support your business. That has held true as Littleton Coin has prospered in part with the help of the community and their employees over the past 70 years. Today, as ever, they are especially proud of their team, love their neighbors and are thrilled to be part of the community family.
