In 2025, Littleton Coin Company proudly marks its 80th anniversary – a remarkable milestone! Founded in 1945 by Maynard and Fannie Sundman, LCC has spent eight decades helping collectors of all ages and experience levels share in the joy of collecting.
From humble beginnings…
Originally started as a small mail-order stamp shop, Littleton Coin Company has grown to become one of the most respected names in numismatics. Speaking from experience, we all pride ourselves on both the quality products and top-notch customer service that we offer the numismatic community!
Over the years, the company has adapted to changing times all while staying true to our core: ensuring that coin collecting is accessible, fun and rewarding. In addition to offering a wide selection of coins and paper money, we’ve also created an online Learn Center that’s filled with educational resources.
…to the next generation…
As we move through our 80th year in business, Littleton Coin Company is reflecting on the values that have guided our success. One of our more recent developments was the transition to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2017. To tell this story, allow me to step back in time…
Following 40 years of dedicated service, Maynard decided to take a step back from day-to-day operations. To facilitate the shift, his eldest son, David, stepped into the role of company president in 1985. Maynard’s “step back” was by no means a “step away” – he continued to work, coming in to the office nearly every day.
…to the future of collecting
Moving closer to present day… As David prepared to make the same shift, he and his family decided to position Littleton Coin Company for the future. In January of 2017, the Sundmans sold all of their stock in the company to the ESOP, making Littleton Coin Company a 100% employee owned company.
Becoming 100% employee owned has empowered all of us here at Littleton Coin Company. Now, we’re all stockholders in the future of the business, resulting in a culture of collaboration, accountability and shared success!
